2022.01.26 12:01 Fizzler1990 Interview for a Apprenticeship

I have a interview for a Apprenticeship next week, it’s for a tech role and I’m really interested in it but I’m getting really nervous about it. I’ve prepared some behaviours that they’ve asked for but what else might be thrown at me during interview? Behaviours and strengths is all I’ve been told. Also what do they usually look for in Apprentices? Tia.

Enjoying sunsets is problematic and comodifying

All of the best sunsets I've ever seen were me just looking out at the front yard and being like 'holy shit sky calm down I'm eating mac and cheese and you're inventing new shades of purple'.

Nobody is ignoring biology. It’s just that sex and gender aren’t the same thing, and people should have the freedom to identify by the opposite gender roles.

Old(er) people of Reddit, when do you think we’ll return to ‘normal’? If ever?
This IS the new normal.
At 72, I have seen many events that have changed our lives permanently, in one way or another. When I was a little kid, we lived in fear of Russia dropping nuclear weapons on us, in fact, we expected it. That is why some schools held duck-and-cover drills (although mine did not, but my Boy Scout troop did), along with tornado and fire drills. It was considered normal.
I nearly died of the measles when I was seven years old. Ran a fever so high, my parents had to pit me in a bath of ice cubes, give me alcohol baths. I lost the hearing in my left ear as a result. It was not considered unusual, just a run of bad luck. Other families had kids with polio, kids who had heart valve damage from untreated or under-treated streptococcal infections like strep throat or scarlet fever. It was fairly normal to know someone with lasting health issues from childhood diseases. Science got better, we learned, things changed.
After President Kennedy was shot we realized that not even the President was bulletproof. It was shocking to our entire nation. Unfortunately, that kind of violence is "normal" to us now - the news is full of shootings, assassinations of political figures, gang wars, cartel violence, etc. Is has become normal to us, no longer shocks us.
Vietnam changed us all, led to a huge divide in the country, there was no longer that "we can do it!" attitude that went along with the great wars. Then Watergate made us realize the extent that some of the highest level of politicians would stoop to, and I don't believe public support for and trust of politicians has ever really been the same. Crooked politicians have become normal to us, a joke, and we almost expect it.
HIV/AIDS changed us. Showed us all the worst in how people can react to a virus. People were killed over fear and ignorance. I have a gay older brother, and there were terrible things that people said and did back then, but medical information and treatment got better, and some people grew and learned. Some never did. But the gay community has grown stronger, moved forward, achieved some remarkable milestones - my older brother was able to marry his long time boyfriend in 2015, something they never dreamed would be possible. It is considered normal now by many people to marry the person you love regardless of their gender, something I never thought my brother would be able to see in his lifetime.
9/11 changed the world. It changed air travel permanently. But people have gone back to flying, New York refused to cower and stop being New York, and went on, one day at a time. We got smarter, realized some things we should have known all along, and stepped up security. But we carry on. Travel changed after 9/11, but we adapted, and security features became normal. Then came COVID, and things changed again. As time goes on, we will continue to change until it feels normal once more.
My wife died of cancer a year ago. Everyone who has lost someone they have loved deeply knows that it is life changing. My life feels 100% different to me now; it is nothing like it was before. Every day is my new "normal".
We learn, we adapt, we make changes. We survive. Today is different from yesterday. Tomorrow will be different than today. The only thing that ever stays the same is that we go through a constant state of change. COVID will change us, but we will adapt and move on. Right now is the new normal.

Mature black women of this forum , what is some advice you have for black women in their 20s
All you need is one good friend.
Your family ain't always right. Big Mama's trauma can impact your life - recognize it, own it, work through it and rise up. You can break the cycle.
Co-workers are not your friends. Keep a professional distance between yourself and people at your place of employment.
Save your money from the very beginning. Set aside 10% of your income and learn to live on less. Your older self will appreciate you for it.
See the world, try new things, get out of your comfort zone. Try it once and if you don't like it, try it again for good measure.
Self care is important -- get enough rest, moisturize, drink your water, monitor your drugs/drinking, maintain your sexual health, get thee to a doctor regularly.
You are worth being loved. Don't settle, sis.
- - - - - -Edited: Holy mackerel! Thank you, ladies. I am 52 and thought back to the advice I wish my twenty-something self had been given. I learned lots of lessons the hard way, but I tried to walk away from each less-than experience with newly discovered truths about myself. Thank you for making me feel seen. My heart is so full. xo
I would also add:
You are the only one with the power to create the narrative of your life. Don't let others define who you are or prescribe what you're about. You alone hold that power. You also hold the power to redefine yourself if you don't like what you see.
Listen to the little voice in your head. You always know the right thing to do, and that voice rarely steers you wrong.
Learn to be vulnerable, but don't trust everyone with your heart.
